Job Description

Provides administrative and operational support to the Editorial Manager (EM) and Editorial team. Coordinate with Editorial Manager on communications to team Assists with assigning and tracking tasks for Journalists and Content Proofreaders. Reviews and proofreads publications and correspondence for accuracy, grammar, formatting, and adherence to style guidelines. Use Google Drive, Asana, and Slack to prepare, organize, and maintain editorial materials and records. Assists with reviewing and generating graphics in Canva for publication materials. Ensures publications and projects meet quality standards, specifications, and production deadlines. Reviews drafts before being assigned to Editorial Manager for review. Coordinate with other department leadership as requested by EM. Other duties as assigned by EM.

Qualifications

Available to volunteer 10+ hours per week. Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong proofreading, writing, and editing abilities. Proficient with Asana, Slack, Adobe Acrobat, Google Drive (or similar software) Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Previous administrative, editorial, or office support experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred. Prior experience supporting editorial, publishing, or communications teams is a plus. Must be available during EST hours. This role is best suited for individuals seeking a longer-term volunteer opportunity (12+ months preferred).
