Business Analyst I, Underwriting
AmTrust Financial Services is a company focused on providing insurance solutions, and they are seeking a Business Analyst I in Underwriting to support underwriting operations. This entry-level role involves analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and collaborating with teams to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to understand workflows, business needs, and system requirements
- Gather, document, and analyze business requirements for underwriting systems, tools, and processes
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and data quality
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of underwriting system enhancements and projects
- Create and maintain process flows, business requirement documents (BRDs), and functional specifications
- Analyze underwriting data to identify trends, issues, and improvement opportunities
- Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and ensure solutions meet business requirements
- Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams
- Assist in troubleshooting system issues and providing user support
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, company, and underwriting guidelines
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, related field or equivalent business experience
- 0–2 years of experience in business analysis, underwriting support, insurance, or related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with data tools is a plus
- Basic understanding of insurance underwriting processes and risk assessment
- Knowledge of insurance systems and policy administration platforms
- Exposure to SQL, data analysis tools, or reporting platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
- Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall project methodologies
