Solving Universal Care Challenges Connecting Families and Caregivers Through Technology Care.com seeks a VP, Deputy General Counsel to serve as a strategic legal leader and partner to the executive team. This role oversees the legal frameworks for Care.com’s consumer marketplace and compliance program, ensuring the highest standards of trust, safety, and privacy across a global platform. The VP, Deputy General Counsel will lead the transformation of the legal function, leveraging legal technology and AI to empower business teams and accelerate innovation. Responsibilities include guiding product teams on compliance throughout the development lifecycle, designing self-service compliance tools for marketing, and maintaining robust, accessible Terms of Service and Privacy Policies. The role also partners closely with Trust & Safety to refine protocols for incident response and platform integrity, and ensures “Privacy by Design” is integrated into all consumer features. Candidates should bring at least 10 years of legal practice, including significant in-house experience at a technology or gig-economy platform, and a proven ability to manage outside counsel on complex litigation. Deep familiarity with marketplace legal issues—such as worker classification, Section 230, FCRA, and consumer disputes—is essential. The ideal candidate excels at drafting consumer-facing policies, enabling business through education and systems-thinking, and communicating complex legal risks and opportunities to senior leadership.
