[Remote] Component Design Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Averro is a Veteran-Owned organization dedicated to delivering innovative talent solutions and technology services. They are seeking Component Design Engineers to support the design and development of reactor structures and mechanical equipment for an advanced Generation IV nuclear reactor program, focusing on the Rotatable Plug Assembly.
Responsibilities
- Design reactor structures and mechanical components from requirements through final design
- Develop equipment and component design solutions in coordination with engineering and project teams
- Perform scoping calculations and support mechanical/stress analysis activities
- Participate in and support design reviews
- Assess technical solutions and collaborate with engineering teams on design improvements
- Support fabrication and supplier issue resolution during design and manufacturing
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams on integration and design execution
- Apply nuclear industry engineering standards and best practices throughout the design process
Skills
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 4+ years or 8+ years (Senior Engineer) of mechanical equipment/component design experience
- Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III
- Experience writing engineering/design specifications
- Experience with Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly
- Experience with finite element stress analysis and mechanical analysis methods
- Experience using ANSYS or similar mechanical stress analysis tools
- CAD experience required; SolidWorks preferred
- Strong communication, technical problem-solving, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical tasks
- Nuclear industry or other highly regulated engineering environments
- Large mechanical assemblies or rotating equipment
- Slewing ring bearings
