[Remote] Linux System Administrator

They are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Linux System Administrator to manage, maintain, and secure a large-scale enterprise-level infrastructure for a critical government computer system.

Responsibilities

• Administer, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in both physical and virtual environments
• Manage the VMware vSphere infrastructure, including the deployment, and troubleshooting of virtual machines and hosts
• Utilize BMC TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA) to perform automated patching, ensure system compliance, and report on security configurations against government baselines (e.g., DISA STIGs)
• Develop, maintain, and execute Ansible playbooks to automate system configurations, application deployments, and other repetitive administrative tasks
• Implement and maintain robust security controls, conduct vulnerability remediation, and ensure all systems are compliant with federal security standards
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, and perform root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support for critical system issues

Skills

• Clearance: Secret or higher required
• 5+ years of experience as a Linux System Administrator, with deep knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) in an enterprise setting
• Strong proficiency in VMware vSphere (ESXi/vCenter) for creating, managing, and troubleshooting virtualized server environments
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining complex Ansible playbooks for configuration management and infrastructure automation
• Proven experience with system hardening, security patching, and ensuring compliance with security frameworks such as DISA STIGs
• High proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash or Python to automate administrative tasks and streamline operations
• Have a current CompTIA Security+
• Direct hands-on experience using BMC TrueSight Server Automation for automated patch management and compliance enforcement
• Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes, and their integration into enterprise workflows
